Collaboration with BUas and local businesses

We have launched a study on the quality of the current tourism and recreational offer in the municipalities of Gilze and Rijen and Alphen-Chaam. In order to examine the offer, the market and our customer relations with the aim of 'the customer journey' - to be able to improve and thus strengthen the position of the T&R sector in our municipalities, Toerisme De Baronie has entered into a partnership with Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas for short).

Local shops and local produce on the map

During the pandemic, more people have been heading out on their bikes to local farms, urban gardens or farm shops. To buy lovely fresh local food and also to enjoy being outdoors in the countryside. Brilliant! You get super-fresh produce and some healthy exercise too. As you cycle, you get to know your local area better and see for yourself where your food comes from.

Out and about in De Baronie of Breda

Regional network LandStad De Baronie, the VVVs and tourist information points in De Baronie of Breda are launching a holiday newspaper this week in cooperation with Uitgeverij De Bode and Uitgeverij Em. de Jong. Tourism clubs merge to form De Baronie

The tourism associations Toerisme De Baronie van Gilze en Rijen and Toerisme Alphen-Chaam are set to merge. They will continue under the new name Toerisme De Baronie – with the subtitle Toerisme De Baronie in Brabant. Their aim is to promote ‘Experience Brabant’.

A discovery tour by covered wagon!

50 people in a covered wagon? For Luke Geerts from Gilze, it's ordinary. Members of Toerisme De Baronie and guests of Tourism Alphen-Chaam met Tuesday evening, 11 June, to explore opportunities with other members to promote each other to tourists in the future.

Opening of the Gilze and Rijen Commemorative Trail

On Tuesday 23 April, the Remembrance Trail in the municipality of Gilze en Rijen was opened by Mayor Boelhouwer at the church in Molenschot. The trail is an initiative of the Molenheide Local History Society, as part of the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Gilze en Rijen.

Information about the Chaamse Bos

A lot is going to change in the Chaamse Bos over the next few years. Mark and Leij has found Staatsbosbeheer and the municipalities of Alphen-Chaam, Gilze and Rijen willing to explain what all these changes mean. It will take place on Wednesday 17 April at 8pm in Bellevue, Dorpsstraat 27 in Chaam. The evening is open to all interested parties.

De Baronie Tourism – rest stop in Molenschot

In Molenschot on Raakeindse Kerkweg, near picking garden Amélior, the second Toerisme De Baronie resting point has been realised. From here, you look out on the picking garden - which is beautifully in bloom in summer - and vast fields, where, among other things, oleaginous crops are grown.

New: a walk around Blok and Broek in Hulten!

Friday 8 March saw the opening of 'Ommetje Blok en Broek' by the Gilze and Rijen Nature and Landscape Association (NLGR) at restaurant Stad Parijs in Hulten, amid great interest. The walk was created in cooperation between NLGR, the Gilze and Rijen municipality and Interest Group Hulten iDOP. Alderman Aletta van der Veen of Gilze and Rijen municipality unveiled the welcome sign of the diversions.

Toerisme De Baronie to have a stand at the walking and cycling fair

Toerisme De Baronie was one of the exhibitors at the walking and cycling fair in Ghent (2 and 3 February) and Utrecht (1, 2 and 3 March). This time, we shared the Visit Brabant stand with other tourist regions in Brabant. The fair attracted more than 40,000 recreational walkers and cyclists. The De Baronie Tourism stand was also visited by hundreds of enthusiastic visitors. We can look back on two successful editions of the fair!

Inspiring members’ meeting organised by Toerisme De Baronie

On Monday 25 February, the De Baronie Tourism Business Association organised its annual members’ meeting at the Van der Valk Hotel Gilze-Tilburg. Attendance was good and the atmosphere was friendly. The meeting consisted of two parts. A formal part (2018 annual report, board elections and 2019 annual plan) and an informal workshop entitled ‘Collaboration starts with willingness’, led by Gabrina Kikkert, events editor at Omroep Brabant.

Inspiring Toerisme De Baronie meeting on social media

On Monday 19 November, Toerisme De Baronie organised an inspirational event on social media for its members at the Van der Valk Hotel Gilze-Tilburg. The turnout and atmosphere were excellent, with around forty interested attendees present. In addition to our own members, several businesses from Toerisme Alphen-Chaam also joined us. Koen Joosen from Mosquito Marketing in Etten-Leur provided the entrepreneurs present with interesting marketing tips during an interactive session.

Valuable Toerisme De Baronie – Knowledge-sharing session on business succession within the family circle

On 5 November, entrepreneurial association Toerisme De Baronie organised a knowledge meeting on family business takeover exclusively for its members. Handing over a business to one of your children or taking over a business from your parents is not something you do lightly. The advisers from Schipper consultancy and accountancy firm gave the entrepreneurs present tips on how to avoid the many pitfalls.

The first ‘Toerisme De Baronie’ rest stop has been officially opened!

On Thursday 18 October, Councillor Aletta van der Veen presided over the festive opening of the first ‘Toerisme De Baronie’ rest stop, which attracted a great deal of interest. It is situated at the junction of Horst and Alphensebaan in Gilze. Ted van der Lee, chair of Toerisme De Baronie, kicked off this special milestone.

Last March, the Toerisme De Baronie business association was represented at the cycling and walking fair in Utrecht. Busy member meeting Toerisme De Baronie

On Tuesday 13 March, entrepreneurs' association Toerisme De Baronie organised its annual members' meeting at Van der Valk in Gilze. The turnout was good and the atmosphere was convivial. We are a year on from the association's establishment. A lot of work has been done and we look back on a successful 2017. And now all of us - board and members - full steam ahead and professionalise ourselves further in 2018!

‘Leemkuilen Walk’ in Gilze refurbished

Volunteers have been working hard on this. This afternoon, Aletta van der Veen reopened the ‘Ommetje Leemkuilen’ walk near the brickworks in Gilze. The Gilze and Rijen Nature and Landscape Association (NLGR) devised the 5 km walking loops in the countryside and created them with the support of the municipality of Gilze and Rijen and the Brabant Environmental Federation.

Successful participation by Toerisme De Baronie at the cycling and walking fair in Utrecht

On Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 March, Toerisme De Baronie had a stand at the cycling and walking fair in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. This fair perfectly matched the tourism offer of our members and the objectives of Toerisme De Baronie. It was an ideal opportunity to present our offer to a large and interested audience from all over the Netherlands. Over 41,000 visitors visited the cycling and walking fair.

De Baronie Tourism – inspirational tour to Zeeland

On 16 January, we travelled to Zeeland with a bus full of enthusiastic Toerlezjoerders. There an all-inclusive day awaited us, offered by founding partner Schipper Groep, for which we thank them. The main goals of this tour were connection between Zeeland and Brabant leisure entrepreneurs, knowledge exchange and inspiration. Among other things, we were taken on a voyage of discovery of Zeeland's DNA and informed about the international project PROFIT.
