The first Toerisme De Baronie rest stop has been festively opened!

On Thursday 18 October, Alderman Aletta van der Veen hosted the festive opening of the first Toerisme De Baronie resting point amid great interest. This can be found in the Horst and Alphensebaan triangle in Gilze. Toerisme De Baronie chairman Ted van der Lee kicked off this special milestone.

QR code
After Ted's welcome speech, designer Mark Andrik of Peerdrops enthusiastically explained the origins, process and operation of the Toerisme De Baronie rest point. The resting points feature a QR code, Mark explained. Through this code, you can get more information on, for example, history, nature, catering and recreation in the area and its immediate surroundings. Children have also been thought of. A special activity board with questions has been developed for them. The answers to the questions can be found on the website of Toerisme De Baronie via the QR code.

Network
Aletta called the Toerisme De Baronie resting point an example of a successful entrepreneurial initiative, facilitated by the municipality. The resting points fit into Toerisme De Baronie's plans to develop a complete network of recognisable and high-quality Toerisme De Baronie resting points in the region between Breda, Tilburg and the Belgian border. The resting points will be at prominent locations, along cycle routes and with a beautiful view. Places where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Where you can fill a water bottle and get interesting information about the area. But also where the children can do something fun.

Water tap point
(Former) youth mayor Marijn van Gool had the honour of opening the water tap point at the rest point. An idea from the youth board. More water tapping points are planned to follow.

Word of thanks
Ted closed the official part with a word of thanks to all parties who cooperated on the Toerisme De Baronie rest points. From Heemkring Molenheide and Natuur-en Landschapsvereniging Gilze en Rijen (NLGR), for example, texts were supplied about the history and nature of the area. After the opening, we were able to enjoy a cup of coffee and hot sausage bread at the rest area, provided by De Hooikar. And now on to the second Toerisme De Baronie rest point in Molenschot!
