In 2012, a pair of storks settled in the Markdal. This was very special, as no breeding pairs had ever been spotted in de Baronie before then. Since 2017, the birds have also been popping up in other places in the region. In 2025, there were 9 nests and 21 young were raised.

During the weekend of 2 and 3 May, Baarle will be the scene of the Borderless Art Route. More than 35 artists will display their work at over 15 locations ranging from churches, cultural centres, to artists' home studios. Visitors can enjoy painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textile art and stained glass from 12 noon to 5pm on both days.
