Come along to the Scouting Alphen Open Day on Saturday 3 October! Children aged 5 to 15 can come along between 10.00 and 15.00 to find out more about Scouting for free and take part in all sorts of fun activities.

As it does every year, Fotogroep Gilze (FGG) is once again organising its annual exhibition in October. The photographers have recently been busy selecting their best work. Visitors can therefore expect a wide variety of subjects and styles. What’s more, everyone is invited to help judge the people’s choice award. On arrival, every visitor will receive a ballot paper on which they can indicate their preference.

During this special autumn walk, children will learn about the seeds and fruits of shrubs and trees in a fun, hands-on way. Did you know there are different types of acorns and chestnuts? We’ll also look at cones from conifers, helicopter seeds, berries and more.

This BIG BAND from Breda, led by Daan Bogers, is kicking off our season with a BIG BANG. The band is regarded as one of the best big bands in the southern Netherlands.

On Saturday 10 October, Bisschop de Vetplein in Gilze will be all about green, sustainable and local initiatives. From 11.00 to 16.00, everyone, young and old, is welcome at the Green Market. Under the motto ‘Working together for sustainability’, visitors can get to know local organisations, businesses and initiatives that demonstrate how we can all contribute to a sustainable and healthy living environment.

This has prompted De Looierij Museum to take a closer look at its traditional introductory tour, focusing on what the leather and shoe industries meant for everyday life in the 19th and 20th centuries. In particular, we’ll be looking at the influence of the brotherhoods and sisterhoods on mental and physical health. In short, we’ll explore the state of body and mind in everyday life in Dongen during the last century.
