Chaamse Bossen

Under the name 'the Chaamse Bossen', Staatsbosbeheer manages a huge nature reserve consisting of the Chaamse Bossen, the Ulvenhoutse Bossen, the Alphense Bergen and the Generaalsbossen. Together they form a wonderful combination of ancient forests, marshy grasslands, streams, shifting sands and heathlands with fens. Here deer graze and birds of prey fly over the tops of trees. Former agricultural plots are restored to their former state, creating fens and wetlands with clearings once again. A beautiful sight! Crossing this nature reserve is the Fietsallee: a kilometre-long cycle path for hours of car-free cycling fun! You are also welcome to take your horse and dog for a nice ride. There are even several dog walking areas.

Tip
The Ulvenhoutse Bos is about 1,000 years old and unique in the Netherlands! In spring, it seems like a party here: the woods are dotted with white wood anemones.
