Wolfslaar estate

From a centuries-old estate to a vibrant meeting place

To the south of Breda, just 10 minutes from the city centre, lies the Wolfslaar Estate. The centuries-old green heart of Breda, where you can step straight from the city into nature – and vice versa. A place to walk, explore and meet up with others in the great outdoors. Spanning some 30 hectares, you’ll find a unique combination of cultural history, rich natural surroundings and surprising experiences. Among other things, you’ll find the educational estate vegetable garden, Warmoezerij Wolfslaar, where you can learn about locally and sustainably grown food.

Wolfslaar Estate is a familiar place for many residents of Breda, having evolved from a16th-century farmstead into a unique, nature-rich destination brimming with experiences today. Take a stroll through the park and the surrounding countryside (Ulvenhoutse Bos & Markdal), visit the petting farm Boerderij Wolfslaar and Charlotte’s Garden House, or enjoy a culinary experience at the Michelin-starred Restaurant Wolfslaar. There are regular workshops and guided tours of the historic, organic estate kitchen garden, Warmoezerij Wolfslaar, and Wolfslaar Farm, as well as intimate acoustic performances in the Nature Garden ’s amphitheatre and events such as ‘Boeken in de Wei’. There’s also plenty of choice when it comes to sport: swimming (Wolfslaar Swimming Pool), beach volleyball (Breda Beach), horse riding (Breda Equestrian Centre), boules (Bre-da-boules) or sports at the nearby Jeugdland. And anyone looking for a special venue for a party or wedding can turn to Landhuis Wolfsla ar.

The three pillars of Wolfslaar Estate — Exercise, Socialising, Nature — can be found throughout the estate. Wolfslaar Estate forms part of the Brabant Nature Gates network. Brabant Nature Gates are the ideal starting points for a cycle or walking tour through Brabant’s countryside. Everyone is welcome here to enjoy themselves, explore and learn more about nature in a fun way.

Hidden behind the gates of Wolfslaar Manor, to the right of the main path, lies Warmoezerij Wolfslaar. An edible, educational garden where, for many years, work has been carried out entirely naturally and ecologically in accordance with permaculture principles. Here , nature-themed workshops are held, seasonal produce grows on the edge of a food forest, and organic vines ripen in the sunlight. Warmoezerij Wolfslaar is an inspirational garden for anyone who wants to learn more about natural urban agriculture, biodiversity and the enhancement of local flora and fauna.
