Hondsdonk estate

Honsdonk estate is located between Chaam and Ulvenhout and forms the connection between the Strijbeekse Heide and the estates Luchtenburg and Valkenberg. the estate dates back to the first half of the 14th century. The farmstead then standing there passed to Peter van Gageldonk in 1364. In 1625, a new farmstead was built after a fire, and slowly but surely more new buildings arose. In 1777, the estate is sold to Lucas Willem Philip Baron van der Borch, adjutant-general of William V. and a highly regarded agronomist. He had the present country house built in 1795.

The estate's current appearance is partly due to Willem van der Borch and his wife Henrica, who moved there in 1842. They designed a garden in English landscape style, rigorously renovated the manor house and extended the round pond to Luchtenburg's cross pond.

Hondsdonk is open to walkers. It is a unique nature reserve where you can enjoy hiking, especially around the lake. The family values its privacy very much. The area around the manor house is therefore off limits.
