Autumn mushroom time!

We are going to look for mushrooms! We will have a morning and an afternoon walk and we will go out very carefully in small groups, to avoid crowding around small mushrooms in a drom.

Mushrooms can also be found in other seasons, but we still see the most species in autumn. What we see are the fruiting bodies. The actual organism lives underground, in the layer of litter, or in wood : the mycelium. We rarely get to see these, but it is sometimes visible in some species or under loose tree bark.

There is something mysterious about mushrooms. Suddenly they are there - yesterday nothing to see, today there is a mushroom and often after a few days there is nothing to see again. It had to be magic! They used to be associated with dark powers, witches and devils, as well as fairies and gnomes.

The forests near Dorst are known for their wealth of mushrooms. Over the years, more than 800 species have been found there. But did you know that there are more than 6,000 species in our country? We will hopefully discover many of them and will certainly make it a nice autumn walk for everyone. Sign up via the link below.

TIP: take a small mirror with you to get a good look at the underside of mushrooms. And with a magnifying glass or loupe, unknown worlds open up !
