An enigmatic child's shoe in a Dongen well

Amateur archaeologists from Heemkundekring De Heerlyckheit Dongen excavated a sod pit on Breedstraat in 2016. This investigation mainly raises questions. Questions that take us back to the late 18th century and the inhabitants of a simple farmhouse. Answers that eventually do come thanks to experimental archaeological research carried out by orthopaedic shoemaker Jos Baijens. Ranko Hamelinck and Jos Baijens will discuss the research and results in detail this evening. You will also learn a lot about the shoemaking craft that could grow into an industry in Dongen.
