IVN Bird walk Binnenpolder Terheijden
On Sunday morning 6 November, the guides of IVN Mark & Donge will take a bird walk in the Binnenpolder in Terheijden. They will spot birds heading for their ideal winter spot.
With winter approaching, many birds start travelling. They leave their breeding grounds in northern and eastern Europe and head for the warm south. Not all birds go that far. Many birds choose to enjoy our country's mild climate as winter visitors. One such wintering area is the Binnenpolder of Terheijden. For centuries, it was a swampy basin that was agriculturally unusable. In dry summers, hay could be harvested there. Dewatering was difficult because of the constant supply of seepage water. This created an almost untouched nature reserve with an abundant bird life, a paradise for meadow and water birds. The bird walk starts on Sunday morning 6 November at 10.00 am and lasts about two hours. If you would like to join the walk, please register in advance using the button below. You will then receive a confirmation via e-mail containing the start location.
Tip: bring binoculars and come watch the many species of birds.
