IVN Nature Walk Mastbos
Sunday morning 17 September, you can join the nature guides of IVN Mark & Donge on a walk through the Mastbos, the oldest cultural forest of our country. More than 500 years ago, the Mastbos was planted as a hunting domain for the Count of Nassau. Before then, in the Middle Ages, this area consisted of "wasteland"; woodlands, marshes, fens, heathland and sand drifts. Wet, swampy stretches can still be found in the area around the Kogelvanger. At the Stouwdreef is a viewpoint, from where you have a beautiful view over the nature reserve with fens and marshes; an eldorado for dragonflies, amphibians and water birds. As the Mastbos is very popular with visitors, this time we walk a bit earlier than we are used to; a walk for early birds.
