IVN Nature walk Gilzewouwerbeek
On Sunday 3 September, IVN guides Mark & Donge will lead a nature walk through the Gilzewouwerbeek area near Bavel, which was redeveloped around 10 years ago. Part of a meandering stream now flows once again through a lush, undulating nature reserve covering 17 hectares. The theme of the walk is ‘New Nature’. In the area near Bavel, there are seven pools at different elevations. These pools provide a favourable habitat for all manner of aquatic flora and fauna. They are particularly important for newts, frogs and toads. The newly dug meanders serve as water storage, but also as a buffer to retain water during dry spells. A boot path runs alongside and through the stream, with a few fords. A ‘dry-feet path’ runs along the high banks. Both routes are suitable for walking. Which nature walk will you choose?
The walk starts at 1.30pm and lasts one and a half to two hours. If you want to join the walk, you need to register in advance, which can be done here. After registration, you will receive more information about the departure point. Have fun walking!
