IVN nature walk Vloeiweide
On Sunday 17 December, the nature guides of IVN Mark & Donge will walk through the Vloeiweide, an area full of culture, nature and history. In the Vloeiweide, peat has been cut for centuries. Four hundred years ago, the Turfvaart was dug to transport the peat for the beer breweries to Breda in long, narrow ships. Next to this dug watercourse flows the Bijloop or Bieloop, a natural stream that partly regained its old meanders and has been awarded the designation Natte Natuurparel in the Brabant Nature Network by the province.
If you want to enjoy this small-scale and wonderfully peaceful stream-valley landscape with beech and oak lanes, meadows with wooded banks, fens, ponds and pools, join the IVN and discover how the Vloeiweide got its name.
