On Sunday 16 March, the nature guides of IVN Mark & Donge head out for a nice long landscape walk.

We start and end this walk in the Ulvenhout forest, an area declared a Natura 2000 site because of its special natural values. From there, we walk to the Ossengoor in the Chaamse bossen. That "goor" here has nothing to do with filth; it is an old word for swamp or marshy area.

It will be a walk for sturdy walkers. We walk a much greater distance and at a faster pace than on the usual IVN walks. The emphasis is on enjoying nature and landscape, scents and colours and plants and animals that come our way, but we look more at the whole and less at the details.

Count on a hike of around 20 km long. We expect to be on the road for 6 hours. Bring plenty of food and drink and be prepared for all weather conditions. Rainwear and waterproof shoes are often needed, as the Chaamse woods are often soggy these days. We hope, of course, for a beautiful spring day.
