In my latest programme 't Houdt eens opdt, it will be a cosy mix of small and big calamities for a change: deterioration, the loss of friends and colleagues, digital alienation, rising temperatures and human excess.

I put in 't Cease once the dog and the Pope are partly responsible for overpopulation. And, of course, the Pope is also being sued over the oak processionary caterpillar. I reveal to my audience that the insect population has collapsed, but indoors the fly swatter continues to prove its usefulness. I throw the dead flies and mosquitoes out of the window. Then the swallows will get some use out of it too. So much for 'It Ends Sometime'.
