In Het Verdriet van Carnaval, filmmaker Frank van Osch searches for the soul of the seasoned carnival celebrant and his or her grief for a party that did not go ahead in 2021. In Daten in de Dancing, Flanders and the Netherlands meet. Literally. The regulars are past their seventies. But here they turn into timid adolescents, shuffling across the floor, peering around.
