Festive annual exhibition FA Rijen
On 8 and 9 June, FA Rijen will hold its annual exhibition at De Boodschap, Nassaulaan 62, 5121BC Rijen. Apart from many photos and AV work by members, this year's exhibition will also feature the nominations and winners of the photo competition around the theme 'This is my Rijen'. As FA Rijen will celebrate its fortieth anniversary in 2024, Marielle Doremalen, alderman of the Municipality of Gilze and Rijen, will festively open the exhibition on Saturday at 14:00.
The exhibition
At the exhibition, all 25 members display their photos. Everyone presents their work in a self-chosen, sometimes very surprising way. The themes are very diverse. To stay with 'This is my Rijen', for example, one board is filled with appealing places in Rijen under a changing starry sky, and another board again with an impression of maintenance in the cemetery, including portraits of the volunteers. Also hanging in the exhibition area is a selection of appealing photos taken over the past year as part of club assignments.
Five members will present their latest audiovisual (AV) productions in room 'Rijen'. Again, very different subjects with examples being: 'Iceland', 'Movements' and 'Dirk, on the road to independence'.
The photo competition.
Because of its 40th anniversary, a photo contest was organised from mid-March to mid-May around the theme 'This is my Rijen'. Participants could submit in two categories: older or younger than 18. The five nominations from both categories can still be admired at the library in the Message until the summer holidays. The two times three prize winners will be announced after the opening. The award ceremony will be done by Marielle Doremalen together with Mark Titulaer. Mark is team leader of Stichting Cultuurplaats, the platform of cultural education and participation in the Municipality of Gilze and Rijen, and he was part of the jury.
The opening hours for our exhibition are:
Saturday 8 June from 11.00 to 17.00
Sunday 9 June from 11.00 to 17.00.
You are very welcome to visit on both days, and admission is free.
