Royal Harmony Orpheus from Tilburg invites you to a concert with an innovative musical programme. Consisting of forgotten music from their own soil, a work not previously performed in the Netherlands from faraway Japan and a new commissioned composition by their globally recognised conductor and composer Hardy Mertens.

You’ll hear ‘Twin Flames’, specially composed by their own conductor. They’ll also perform the Moorish march ‘Habibi’ by Alfredo Anduix Rodríguez, ‘Five Little Parades’ by Koos van de Griend and the spectacular ‘Shin-Wa’ by Hiroshi Oghuri. This music is rarely performed in the Netherlands.

Why not come and enjoy this unique, surprising and varied programme? On 9 November, Orpheus will be taking part in a concert competition in Hoofddorp. This is an exciting musical challenge, for which they want to be perfectly prepared. With the concert at De Schakel, they are delighted to offer you the chance to experience this innovative music in their home region too, which they will perform for you at the very best of their ability!

The Royal Orpheus Wind Band will not be performing alone this evening. You can also enjoy a performance by their musical partner, the Vlijt & Volharding Alphen Music Society. They will be joining them on stage to play a selection of pieces in preparation for their participation in the Village Competition and the National Competition, in which they will be taking part at the end of November. ‘Pinocchio’ by Alex Poelman and ‘Fantasia Helvetica’ by Jan van der Roost form the main parts of their programme this autumn. After the concert, the band invites you to raise a glass together.
