This estate was created in the early 19th century, but in the 13th century the Abbey of Tongerlo already owned a farmstead here. Today, the estate has a size of 150 ha and is partly open to the public. The Poppelsche Leij stream meanders through the beautiful, natural stream valley. In the vicinity of the Nieuwkerk estate are several cycling and hiking trails that are part of the junction network.
