Anneville estate

Anneville is an estate near Ulvenhout with a unique history. The estate, which covers 27 ha, features a neo-classical-style manor house built between 1851 - 1852. Until the 1920s, the house was used as a residence. Anneville was then leased by a Breda restaurateur, who turned Anneville into a Hotel-Restaurant and Tea Room. This use lasted until 1955, with a brief interruption towards the end of WWII.

In the last months of the war, Anneville was requisitioned by the Germans and used as a bakery, especially around the Coach House. After the liberation of the southern Netherlands, Anneville was the residence of Prince Bernhard, who had his headquarters in Breda, until May 1945. After his departure, Anneville became the residence of Queen Wilhelmina for about six weeks on 3 May 1945. It was here that news of the Germans' capitulation reached her. Anneville subsequently became the scene of several big parades and a big party for the neighbourhood.

The estate is freely accessible, the manor house is not. the coach house today serves as a meeting and wedding venue.
