In Grensland De Baronie , there used to be many tanneries. Do you know how tanners used to live and work? From cow to leather; technology and people in a building that breathes tanning. Find out at Museum De Tannierij in Dongen.
However, De Looierij is more than a museum. There are regular exhibitions, activities and themed walks (with or without a guide) from the museum. Highly recommended, for instance, is a walk along the Brothers' Path, which depicts the life and history of the Dongen Brethren. And you can also discover Dongen by bike from the museum via the historical cycle route: Tussen Donk En Vaart.
Wander through the fascinating exhibition Dongen, from ZERO to NOW in the slipper loft, linger in an atmospheric setting by the sand drifts and stay, daydreaming or chatting, sitting on the old tanning pits in the spacious museum café. A museum that also surprises you in 't Nieuwe Nathuis several times a year with a different changing exhibition.
