As part of 't Goeie van Brabant, we interview several entrepreneurs in the region. We ask them what they have to offer and what Toerisme De Baronie means to them. Read below the interview with Bas van Abeelen of Restaurant Den Hespel, also owner of IJsboerderij Jacobushoeve in Dorst.
What can tourists come here for?
Tourists can come here to enjoy anything from an ordinary lunch to a delicious dinner, for example our spare ribs (marinated in a special way). This is also what we are known for, a grill restaurant. Many walkers, cyclists and businessmen come here. We are close to the entrance to de Duiventoren, nice to visit. Moreover, we have charging points for electric bikes.
What makes Den Hespel unique?
The name 'Den Hespel' means 'long bend', focusing on the location. Located on the junction routes, many cyclists pass here. We have charging points for electric bikes. We have a homely atmosphere and use a lot of local produce. On a sunny day at the weekend, up to 700 people can drop by.We also have something new; a special three-course menu for groups, on Monday to Thursday.
What is Toerisme De Baronie to you? A hotspot on a busy route with lots of walking and cycling routes combined with burgundy enjoyment.
Do you have any tips for Toerisme De Baronie?
