Volunteers worked hard on it. This afternoon, Aletta van der Veen reopened 'Ommetje Leemkuilen' near the Steenfabriek in Gilze in the drizzling rain. The Gilze and Rijen Nature and Landscape Association (NLGR) devised the ±5km ommets in the outlying area and constructed them with the support of the Gilze and Rijen municipality and Brabantse Milieu Federatie.
Ommetjes are short walks that start and end just outside the village. They lead along dirt tracks and restored old paths that pass through the agricultural cultural landscape. This makes the landscape more accessible for residents and old sandy paths, landscape elements and cultural-historical elements are better preserved. In our Toerisme De Baronie region, several ommetjes can be found, look under TO DO > Walking on the website.
