Barony gates open up valuable nature reserves or special cultural-historical sites in De Baronie. Each Barony Gate can be recognised by a column with the name Barony Gate. Here you will also find panels with information about routes in the area. Each gate has its own theme and legend. You can listen to the story on location via the QR code on the column.

Het Smokkelaartje is in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve with fens, heathland and forest. This Barony gate gives access to De Strijbeekse Heide. This former heathland was reclaimed from 1932 and partly planted with softwood and partly converted into agricultural land.
Recreation park Ponderosa is surrounded by nature reserves. Vast landscapes, where you can walk and cycle for hours without meeting anyone. Many special birds also live in this area.
Saint Catharinadal monastery, now already seven centuries behind it, still leads a flourishing existence. The Norbertine monastery consists of a moat house (built around 1270), monastery building and convent church and an early-19th-century gatehouse.
