Candle procession in Baarle-Nassau
A beautiful and fairy-like Kaarsken procession. Pilgrims from the Netherlands and Belgium join the Kaarsken procession through the darkened village. The statue of Mary leads the way after the Eucharist in St Remigius Church. Flower brides dressed in white scatter rose petals, prayers are said and everyone carries candles with them. This always makes for a beautiful and fairy-like procession.
The Kaarsken Procession is organised annually by the Friends of Lourdes Foundation on the first Sunday after 15 August. The Eucharist celebration in St Remigius Church is at 8pm, followed by the procession through the streets of Baarle-Hertog and Nassau around 9pm.
