Bike tour Vincent van Gogh - approx. 45 km
It has been over 125 years since Vincent van Gogh died, but interest in this extraordinary painter remains undiminished. This tour visits his birthplace Zundert and Etten-Leur where his painting career began.
Vincent van Gogh (born in Zundert 1853 and died in Auvers-sur-Oise in 1890) was a post-impressionist, a movement that succeeded impressionism. He wanted to depict what he saw and experienced. Art had to appeal to the soul. He is now considered one of the great painters of the 19th century. However, this recognition came late. During his lifetime, only one painting was sold. A sister of his friend bought it a few months before his death. Van Gogh produced all his work in just 10 years, before he started suffering from a nervous disease and committed suicide. In total, he painted 825 paintings.
This tour is organised by the cycling guides of Gilde De Baronie. We will cycle through the area where Vincent spent part of his life and provide some 'vistas' of his beautiful paintings.
